For Fear of Awoites

He sings so beautifully you’d almost believe angels cry. The spotlight is always looking for him to illuminate him on the stage. The balloons fall as he bows his thanks. He gets standing ovations from coast to coast but he would never agree to sing on the African Amphi theatre stage for fear of the Awoites.
The African Amphi theatre is on the theatres in Obafemi Awolowo University. It is rumoured to have about 1500 sits. It is this theatre that most award shows, concerts, praise nights and so on are held on Obafemi Awolowo University campus. Amphi theatre is like at the heart of the University not too far from the Senate building. The building that houses the African Amphi theatre also houses Odudua Hall, Odudua Lecture Theatres and the likes.
It isn’t a surprise that most people would want to attend shows at Amphi because no matter where you are, you get a piece of the live action. During this shows, some students and non-students alike prefer to showcase their talents. Perhaps they think this is an avenue for someone to notice their God-given talents and introduce them to sponsors or organisations that will change their lives forever. Perhaps they think it a place for someone to notice them and say someday,” I knew that lady back at school; she’s a very good singer”. People have motives for different things they do. Some do it for the fame, others for the money and yet others for doing sake.
The Awoites are the residents of the Obafemi Awolowo University Hall. They got their name Awoites like the other halls of residence on campus. Akintolites is to Ladoke Akintola Hall as Moremites is to Moremi Hall. The hall is popularly known as Awo on campus. The persons that reside in this hall are known for their aro .Aro  is making jest of person or persons in a gathering. It is popularly done in the hall of residence for ladies. Awoites make fun of people’s dressing, make-up and the likes. When Awoites are not in their hall of residence, they go to attend lectures like any other student on campus. The time for shows in Amphi theatre is the best time for these folks. They are known for them being notorious so they don’t pay the stipulated prices for gate fee. They wait until the later hour and force their way inside. If a performer comes, they make sure he prostrates before he performs or else they’ll throw satchels of pure water on him or hinder him from performing. This also goes for political applicants for the student union government.
Awoites are not only known for their bad deeds but also for the good deeds too. If a performance is late to start, they do good to entertain individuals before the commencement of the performing individuals. Most of Awoites are part of the Student Union Government so they partake in the fighting of student’s rights. Sometimes when a thief is caught, they make sure the thief is given maximum shishi.
In conclusion, my friend called He would never sing on the African Amphi theatre for the fear of Awoites.
